Composites in renewable energy

Managing Director Graham Mulholland spoke at the House of Lords as part of the Materials Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), about the opportunity and scope for composites in renewable energy.

The event focussed on the importance of new materials technologies and their crucial role in UK Manufacturing. EPM were asked to participate to outline the adaptability of carbon fibre composites in the renewable energy sector. Specifically this was for the use in parabolic trough collectors on solar thermal energy installations.

This fascinating project indicates EPM’s capability in diversifying the use of carbon-fibre composites.

Graham Muholland explained, “Renewable energy is a developing sector adopting high performance engineering into it’s supply chain. By incorporating composite components it can be more flexible and versatile in product development”
