Director of Operations appointment

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to epm: technology group – Director of Operations, Lee Hickling.

epm: technology, one of the UK’s leading carbon composite manufacturers’ has made a senior appointment to their management team, further boosting its operational and production capability.

Lee Hickling has been appointed as director of operations for the company. Having spent the last six months within epm as general manager looking after the production of all projects from concept to completion, Lee will now run, manage and improve all of epm’s operational activities.

Commenting on his new appointment Lee said, ” I am looking forward to the challenge and working with the team to unlock the potential of the business in the near future.”

Graham Mulholland, CEO said “Lee now has complete authority on our operations, we’re in a transition from a family run SME to a well-financed mid-market engineering powerhouse. This appointment is fantastic for epm, to our staff, customers and suppliers it shows and demonstrates how we intend to move forward over the coming months.

This appointment is critical to achieve our forward orders and growth aspirations in 2018 and beyond.”

Prior to joining epm: technology, Lee was Operations Director at Nexsan Technologies.

epm technology group acquired by AS.G Ltd

epm technology has been acquired by AS.G (Aero Services Global Limited) as part of a multimillion pound buy & build strategy to service high performance high growth engineering sectors in Aerospace, Defence & Automotive industries.

epm becomes a strategically important part of the AS.G Group, and the Group will provide capital and a robust management infrastructure to support the anticipated growth of epm technology.

Graham Mulholland CEO & Founder of epm will continue to spearhead the development of epm. He said “we have reached a point where epm requires the necessary funds and the executive ability to provide a world class service to our larger OE Aerospace & Automotive customers. This strategic acquisition will enable the business to now break the SME glass ceiling . This will also provide a boost for our on going commitments to staff development, R&D and process innovations which will continue to see epm pioneering and leading our industry and adding value to our customers”.

Amin Amiri, the founder and CEO of a2e Industries, which also co-founded and is the CEO of AS.G Group said “AS.G is building a dynamic engineering group of companies to service and develop opportunities in Aerospace, Defence & Automotive markets. The acquisition of epm clearly demonstrates our appetite and ability to move and grow quickly. Part of this is activated by having the vision to support fantastic innovative companies like epm technology group to grow and add value to its customers”. Mr. Amiri is a highly successful investor with a fifteen-year track record of investing in or acquiring industrial companies and significantly enhancing their fortunes. Mr. Amiri’s portfolio of investments, which are all monitored by a2e, consists of a conglomerate of industrial companies with a combined turnover and EBITDA of circa £140m and £17m respectively.

Graham Mulholland continues “epm technology will also continue to grow it bespoke services and proudly maintain all of its Motorsport and F1 activities, the business is best known as a F1 supplier and again having the correct financial resources to support all these activities is critical. This is a great result for epm, all its customers and my team moving forward”.

epm’s legal advisors in this transaction were Fraser Cunningham and Mark Wilcock of Smith Partnership and lead Accountants were David Nelson of Smith Coopers all based in Derby.

Jenson Button Trust Triathlon

The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon took place on Sunday 23 July 2017 at Markeaton Park in Derby in aid of Cancer Research UK. epm: technology was approached by Huub Design to be part of the event as suppliers of the medals for all participants and the winner’s trophies.

The event consisted of a 200m swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km run. The fastest competitors were then entered to compete in the Grand Final in the afternoon, racing through a 400m swim, 20km bike ride and finishing off with a 5km run.

We’d like to thank Jenson Button for bringing this fantastic event to Derby and enthusing the people of the city to take part to raise money for the Trust.

International Trade Award win

epm: technology group has won the International Trade Award, sponsored by NFT Distribution, at the Derby Telegraph Business Awards 2017, presented by comedian Mark Dolan and Olympic medalist Gail Emma MBE. epm: technology, was one of just three finalists to be shortlisted for this award.

Graham Mulholland said: “I am very proud of team epm at last night’s award, we all played our part in winning the Derby Telegraph International Trade Award for our high performance engineering and our pioneering innovative composite component manufacturing.

Supporting f1, aerospace, motorsport, automotive, bespoke customers around the world from our technology centre based in Derby.”

epm: technology group AS9100 Rev C surveillance audit

epm: technology group are pleased to announce that we have successfully passed our AS9100, Revision C, Surveillance audit with a ‘Recommendation for Reapproval by BSI.

AS9100 is the quality management system (QMS) standard for the aviation, space and defense industries. Head of Quality & Business Improvement Gavin Henderson oversaw the audit process which was conducted at the beginning of June 2017.

Gavin commented “The implementation of AS9100 has driven tangible business improvement, team epm: has really taken hold of the changes we have made to our management system which was reflected in the improvements found at the audit.”

2016 has been a fantastic one for epm!

We have achieved our AS9100 approval industry standard quality management system (QMS) within the aerospace sector and we strengthened our team with a key appointment, Andrew Walker- Commercial Director.

These being said, we are proud to announce that once again we’ll be exhibiting at the Advanced Engineer Show. Held in Birmingham’s famous NEC each year, this is the UK’s largest annual gathering of manufacturers and supply chain and one of the most important events on the industry calendar.

This year, we won’t just showcase some of our latest projects, we’ll also celebrate 20 years of being at the forefront of the composite industry!
